MENINGIOMA SURGERY
Dr. Hrayr Shahinian: Endoscopic Supraorbital Craniotomy. Through an incision in the eyebrow and a one-centimeter keyhole craniotomy, an endoscope is introduced into the anterior cranial fossa and advanced along the base of the brain. A 3.5-centimeter meningioma is identified. Its capsule is electro-coagulated and a small opening is made. Using the CUSA ultrasonic aspirator, the central portion of the tumor is cored out; thus, leaving the capsule. Using micro-dissection techniques, the capsule is dissected free of the surrounding normal brain and is completely resected. The residual scar is hidden completely within the hair of the eyebrow. Pre- and post-operative MRIs confirm a total and complete resection of the tumor.
